Two Wheels That Will Bring You To The Apple Paradise
Do you know that every second European has a Bicycle? It\'s a convenient option to get to work and travel without spending too much money. There are thousands of bicycle paths in European cities and they are well equipped. In October, we highly recommend touring lovers to go to Poland!
The first Russian society of cyclists was organized in 1901. Its participants traveled to Europe, Crimea and the Caucasus and published a magazine with routes and travel stories.
For a hundred years, the number of cyclists in Russia have greatly increased, but due to the harsh climate and lack of branched routes, camping and cycling services, now they prefer travelling in Europe. One of the most attractive countries for touring became Poland.
With its vast forests, Poland is considered \"green lungs\" of Europe. Here you may enjoy a mild climate and many routes through national parks, such as Green Velo with a total length of 2,000 kilometers. On the way you can visit small towns and see historical sights, museums, monuments and architecture.
Countryside lovers will definitely like a route along the Dunaec river. It goes through the villages where people still live the old way of life and cherish their traditions. Residents of local villages still use ancient recipes when cooking food. Buckwheat-curd and mushroom dishes are especially tasty.
October is a mellow season in Poland when forests are covered with a blanket of crimson and golden leaves, and gardens are full of apples.
This country is the largest exporter of apples in Europe, apples are sold in all shops, supermarkets and even at gas stations. In any tavern you can try a famous apple pie.
Cyclists can take advantage of various recreational facilities equipped specifically for their needs: cafes and shops, bike repair centers and toilets in every 5-10 kilometers of the route. You can stay overnight in campsites and small hotels. In tourist information centers, you can take maps and guides.
Meditation in motion
On a two-wheeled bicycle you can get to remote, secluded corners, which are difficult to get by car. You can adjust the way on your own and stay where you like. Cycling is a good way to keep fit and relax in fresh air.
While your legs are pedalling, your head is disconnected from worries and your eyes may enjoy the beauty of landscapes, while your heart is filled with the energy of nature. It may seem that riding a bike all day is hard. You can ride 40-80 kilometers without getting tired if you make stops. Take a picture of lambs and horses, gather a bouquet of leaves or just sit by the lake. Feel the silence and relax.
The law never sleeps
In Poland, cyclists are treated with great respect, drivers gently pass them, pedestrians do not use cycling paths. But there are rules even for them.
In cities, cyclists must observe the rules for motorists, and in villages - for pedestrians, if there are no special cyclist paths.
Pedestrian crossings must be crossed on a special lane with a sign. If there\'s no such lane, you should walk with your bike nearby. Otherwise, you may be fined. Please note that it is forbidden to gather mushrooms and make fires in protected areas. Garbage from the forest should be taken with you.
Don\'t be a snail.
To go to a cycling tour, you need a bike. A touring bike wll be an excellent choice. It is adapted for fast riding and tracks with different surfaces. The frame of touring bikes is designed for additional loads due to wide pipes. They allow taking some necessary things and equipment. Wide tires easily go over rocks and bumps. By the way, there are many bike rental stations in Poland, so it is not necessary to take your bike with you.
What you really don’t have to do is carrying a backpack on your back like a turtle. It is uncomfortable and you will get tired quickly. It is better to take a roomy trunk, designed for 15-25 kilograms of cargo. Distribute it evenly and use waterproof bags to keep clothes and things dry. In front, you can place a trunk shelf with a handlebar case, tent and sleeping bag. Take a first aid kit and camera. You will surely want to capture beautiful places. Who knows, maybe these pictures will inspire you to a new bike adventure!
Check the condition of your bike and equip it with lighting. Take a pump, spare camera, bike kit for a small repair.
A bicycle can be transported on board of the plane as oversized baggage. It is advisable to pack it in a rigid package in order to avoid damage. Since the special package costs at least 7,000 rubles, the alternative option may be a bike box. It can be taken in a bike shop and you may throw it away after arrival. If you bring a tent and sleeping bag, pack them in a box together with your bike.
You\'d better wear sports synthetic clothing. Choose outerwear with light-reflecting elements. Take a helmet (without it you\'ll be fined), gloves and sunglasses. Sneakers will be fine, but ideally put on cycling shoes with SPD pedals.
